of State Opera, support which currently continues through the
James and Diana Ramsay Foundation. We are very pleased to assist in
allowing artists of long standing to return to the common pool
the assets of their experience, and so develop the next generation
who in turn can enrich us all.”
Richard Jasek, Foundation Director
For many years, State Opera SA has nurtured the early careers of some of South Australia’s talented operatic young artists. Named in honour of the continued financial support of the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation and with assistance from The Friends of State Opera and the Rotary Club of Adelaide Inc., this nurturing has been able to expand.
The 2015 program comprises a packed year of activity for ten very special artists, participating in a vast array of classes, including; Alexander Technique, movement and dance, stage craft, intensive language skills, repertoire coaching and live performance opportunities.
These training activities will culminate in public Masterclasses, Summer and Winter Showcase concerts, Opera Studio chamber operas, pop-up operas, education programs and corporate engagements, along with the featuring of some of those artists in State Opera’s Main Stage productions.
South Australia has always punched above its weight, producing brilliant arts practitioners. With the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation Opera Program, State Opera SA is maintaining a solid reputation as a hothouse for the creation of the next generation of Australian opera stars.
